Before you book

Anyone interested in photography may buy the $10 festival pass; camera ownership and experience are unrestricted. ICP members have free festival access.

Check the official page for current prices, availability, registration deadlines and what each pass includes. A general entry pass may not cover every activity. Price and professional eligibility are separate: free registration can still require industry credentials.

Bring a specific use case

Write down the problem you want a product or workflow to solve, the equipment you already own and the connections or file formats you depend on. Ask exhibitors to demonstrate that use case rather than only the headline feature.

Compare complete setups

Record the exact model, accessories, software requirements and recurring costs. Check compatibility and what is actually included in the quoted package. Ask permission before testing or photographing demonstration equipment.

Plan demonstrations and follow-up

Use the published program to prioritize demonstrations or education. Take notes on results you can reproduce later, and keep a named technical contact for questions that require a more detailed answer.

EDITOR’S PLAN · UPDATED OCTOBER 12

A photography route with room to look

Choose a gallery anchor

The festival runs October 16–18 across New York’s Lower East Side. Use the current map to pair one exhibition with an activity nearby. The directory’s anchor venue does not mean that every session happens at the International Center of Photography.

Separate admission from your activity bookings

The organizer describes a $10 Experience Pass, with some activities booked as free or paid add-ons. Check the booking requirements for your chosen session and keep its confirmation beside the festival pass. Our suggested plan is one booked activity, one gallery and a flexible interval each day.

Take one question home

After a gallery, note a decision about sequencing, framing or presentation that interests you. At a gear demonstration, use that question to guide your conversation. Leave walking time between venues and check access arrangements before reserving sessions close together.

Getting there and moving around

Your listed destination is International Center of Photography in New York, NY. Confirm the correct building, entrance, parking, public transport and accessibility arrangements with the venue and organizer. Large venues may host several unrelated events on the same day. Allow time for check-in and walking from the entrance to your first stop.

Your show-day checklist

  • Keep your admission confirmation and any required identification available.
  • Check the organizer’s current opening hours and pass-specific entry.
  • Review bag, personal-item, photography and re-entry rules.
  • Save the program or floor plan and choose your first three priorities.
  • Plan transport home and keep notes for useful follow-up.
